On Saturday nights, a tour of La Candelaria invites participants to follow guides dressed as historical figures.
Based on the premise that the souls of the historic center return to tell stories, participants walk through the historic center while listening to tales and secrets that, according to the tour’s narration, the protagonists took to their graves.
The activity begins at 6:30 p.m. and gathers groups at traditional meeting spots in the area, such as the Plazoleta del Chorro de Quevedo.
During the walk, participants make their way through alleys, churches, and plazas illuminated by old streetlamps.
The guides, dressed in dark robes and classic coats, interact with the audience and use the architectural heritage as a backdrop for their stories.
The final stop: a haunted house—for the brave only.
The highlight of the tour is entering an old colonial house. Inside, the building features dark hallways, weathered doors, large chandeliers, and spaces where characters in horror makeup appear.
The organizers warn that entry into this house, which has a gloomy atmosphere, is at each visitor’s own risk.
The cost of the experience starts at $50,000, while the full tour—which includes access to the colonial house—costs $60,000 per person.
When reserving spots, participants can ask about promotions offered specifically for couples.
The route offers a unique way to explore the capital’s oldest streets, blending the oral tradition of mystery with historic architecture as night falls.
