The Teatro Colón is the venue for the world premiere of the stage production Do you remember? Do you? No, I don’t, created specifically for this venue by German director Heiner Goebbels.
This premiere performance kicks off the Festival of the Universal Sacred. The event brings together diverse forms of performing arts and live music in the capital and other cities.
For this production, Goebbels designed a concept that reinterprets and reuses physical elements from his previous productions. He is recognized as one of the most influential directors on the current performing arts scene.
The performance on the stage at La Candelaria is led by an ensemble of nearly 20 Colombian musicians, dancers, and performers.
The cast shapes a piece that explores space and sound through the body and the installation.
Goebbels’s work at the Teatro Colón heads an artistic circuit with free admission
The official opening of the play and the festival was attended by the director himself and the Minister of Culture, Yannai Kadamani Fonrodona.
With this as its starting point, the Festival of the Universal Sacred presents a total of 26 artistic productions.
Its local circuit spans 11 different venues in Bogotá. Its national program simultaneously covers 12 other cities in Colombia.
The event’s program is characterized by its use of spaces that go beyond traditional performing arts venues.
Churches and museums have been adapted to host theater, concerts, and sound installations that engage in a dialogue with the architecture of the space.
Among the activities on offer are performances by choirs such as the Celis Family Gospel Choir. Also, bullerengue groups like Las Alegres Ambulancias. Or sessions of sonic meditation and ensembles that blend traditional music with experimental approaches.
The program for this cultural event will run through June 8.
Most of the performances and exhibitions held at the various venues are free of charge.
